I've written a letter to the good people that signed my nomination papers to ask them to help me in my campaign for Neenah 3rd District Alderman.  It's something I didn't do two years ago, and I don't intend to make that mistake this time.

My opponent is formidable and has prominent supporters. That alone makes this campaign more interesting; it gives it an edge that wasn't there when I ran two years ago.

Here's something you can do for me right now: would you please register by clicking on the Register link underneath the search box above?  I don't know how significant this site will become in my campaign, but I've got to believe that the more people that register and read what I've got to say about the goings-on in Neenah, the better they'll be able to judge what I stand for...and the word will spread.

I'm also planning an election night party to thank the people that volunteer to help during my campaign.  The election night vote tabulation won't be nearly as complicated as it is for State Assembly, say.  I helped Assemblyman Dean Kaufert tabulate results last November as his poll workers phoned in with results from all the precincts in Neenah and Menasha.  That actually took quite a while as there was considerable delay between poll watcher reports.

But on April 7th, we'll have the results immediately after 8:00pm.  There are only two precincts and the volunteer poll workers at those precincts -- Hoover School and the Tullar Garage -- are very experienced and efficient.

If you live in the 3rd District and are a regular voter, you can expect to see me at your door between now and April 6th. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Re: Firing up the campaign

Stay warm out there, and wear senseable footwear while on the campaign trail. Winter campaigning can get treacherous. And a sprained ankle can seriously inhibit the number of doorways you can reach to shake hands with folks. On the other hand, showing up on crutches should prove your dedication, and will likely get you in to sit on the couch for a friendly chat. Not all that sure a sympathy vote would be worth the pain and agony though.

Re: Firing up the campaign

Steve, I know it's in your heart, to have good limited government that will lower taxes and protect citizen's rights, so that they may prosper and live free. That you would actually be more like a guard dog protecting us, than the typical politician, that just mouths the words, then does the opposite. I know this because of what you consistently write about and who you associate with. Thank you for caring enough to run for office. Best of Luck!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for the encouragement. As the Cub Scout motto says, I'll do my best.
